The Air Force men's tennis team dropped its second consecutive Mountain West Conference match and fourth overall Friday with a 7-0 loss to 68th-ranked BYU at the Academy. With the victory, BYU improved to 10-12 overall and 1-3 in the MWC, while the Falcons fell to 11-11 and 0-2 in league play.
For the second straight day, Air Force lost all three doubles matches. BYU's No. 1 team of James Ludlow and Dominik Kaufhold snuck by Falcon seniors Robby Alexander and Ryan White, 8-6, at the top sot. Chip Hand and Jonathon Sanchez followed suit at No. 2 with an 8-1 victory over Brett Rodgers and Greg Ferry, who was filling in for the injured Mike Youn. Cassidy Mears and Michael Eraso completed the sweep with an 8-5 win over Keith Cronican and James Tomlin.
BYU swept all six singles matches as well, including five of them in straight sets. The best match came at the No. 3 spot, where Cronican won a tough first set, 7-6, over Kaufhold, but lost the second set 6-3, then fell 10-5 in a super tie-break.
The Falcons continue MWC action on Saturday against the Utah Utes, beginning at 9 a.m.
