Steven Morales scored the first goal of his collegiate career 2:37 into double overtime as the Marist men's soccer team recorded a 2-1 victory over Air Force in the Army Tournament on Friday. With the victory, Marist improved to 1-2-1 while the Falcons fell to 2-3.
Morales' game-winner came off a rebound after Falcon goalie Brian Guyette saved an initial shot from Shareif Ali. Guyette made a career-high 12 saves in the contest. For the game, Marist held an 18-13 edge in shots.
Marist got on the scoreboard first late in the first half, as Matthew Boyd headed in a ball past Guyette that was sent into the box by Joe Touloumis at 42:45.
However, Air Force answered early in the second half as senior Ian Hauck scored in the 52nd minute after taking a long clear from Guyette and beating Red Foxes goalie Daniel Owens with a 10-yard shot. It was Hauck's team-leading second goal of the season and Guyette's first point of his career. Owens made five saves in goal in his first start of the season.
Air Force returns to action on Sunday, playing host Army (4-1) at 12 p.m. (ET).
