USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Despite getting 24 shots off, Air Force could not get a score, playing McNeese State to a 0-0 double-overtime tie in women's soccer action Sunday morning at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. The tie puts AFA at 1-2-1 on the season and the Cowgirls are now 1-1-3.
Air Force out-shot McNeese 24-9. Sophomore Ashley Collins had six shots and sophomore Kelsey Yip and junior Corbin Sanford had five each. Kamyrn Koch led the Cowgirls with four shot attempts.
Falcon goalkeeper Erin Wallace notched her second shutout of the weekend, recording four saves. McNeese keeper Labrie Pritzen also had four saves.
Air Force was the dominant team in the first-half, out-shooting McNeese 7-3. Things were pretty even in the second half despite the Falcons holding a 9-4 shot advantage.
The Falcons dominated the overtime sessions, but failed to score despite several scoring opportunities. The closest shot at a goal came late in the second overtime when Christin Brodie managed to get to a ball inside the box. Her header just missed over the crossbar and the game came to a finish moments later.
The Falcons return to action next Friday, Sept. 14 taking on service academy rival Army at the Toys for Tots Tournament in St. Louis, Mo.
