Jake Schonig Named CGA Gymnast of the Week

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force junior Jacob Schonig was named the USAG Division Gymnast of the Week by the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) for the week ending Jan. 14. The award, which is voted on by the men's gymnastics coaches, is the first such career honor for Schonig. He joined Stanford's David Sender, who earned the award for the NCAA Division.
Schonig tied for first on the still rings at the season opening Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 12, with a score of 15.000. With the win, Schonig becomes one of the first Falcons in recent memory to claim an individual title at the Rocky Mountain Open event. That score was one of the four highest marks in the nation during the opening weekend of collegiate competition.
