Air Force Women Swept at Conference Quad Meet

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - In its first conference duals of the season, the Air Force women's swimming and diving team went winless against Colorado State, New Mexico and San Diego State Saturday afternoon at SDSU's Aztec Aquaplex. The Falcons fell to the Rams, 231-69, the Lobos, 207-93, and the Aztecs, 205-95.
Air Force, which now drops to 1-8, 0-3 in the MWC, was led by senior captain Jane Hwang (Irvine, Calif.), who notched the Falcons' lone first-place finish. Hwang captured first place in the 200 freestyle for the second time in three races this season, clocking in with a season-best mark of 1:54.21. She also added two more top-five finishes, coming in third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.06 and fifth in the 100 butterfly with a mark of 58.31.
The Falcons picked up two top-five finishes in the 50 freestyle, led by senior Laken Stogner (Bowdon, Ga.), who came in second with a time of 24.66. Meanwhile, freshman Alison Ceranski (Marinette, Wis.) took fifth in the event, touching in a time of 25.06.
In addition, there were three sixth-place showings for the Falcons, including freshman Katharine Ernst (Folsom, Calif.), who finished sixth in the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.87. Stogner placed sixth in the 100 free, clocking in at 53.87, while sophomore Kaeli Kluesner (Denver, Colo.) took sixth in the 200 backstroke with a mark of 2:08.42.
Air Force's top relay finish came in the 400 free, as the team of Stogner, Ceranski, Lauren Delaney (Fr., Panama City, Fla.) and Cassie Fletcher (Fr., Durham, N.C.) took fourth place with a time of 3:38.01.
The Falcons are back in action Nov. 8, when they travel to Grand Junction, Colo., for a tri-meet with Colorado College and host Mesa State.
