USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Three members of the Air Force boxing team will travel to New York, N.Y., for the National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) Invitational at the New York Athletic Club on Monday, Nov. 24. Air Force will be one of seven programs to participate in the prestigious competition.
Seniors Dean Chuva and Boyce Loomis will represent the Academy with junior Cory Tintzman at the annual competition.
Chuva will compete in the 130-pound weight class and face off with Santa Clara's Brandon Dahl to open the night. Chuva will be competing up 18 pounds from the 112-pound division where he won the national championship title last year.
Loomis, a team captain for Air Force, will move up 10 pounds from his normal division to compete in the 195-pound bout against Navy's Evin Nordstrom. Loomis is one of two Falcons competing against their service academy rivals, as Tintzman will face Army's Cedric Frazer in the final bout of the night - the heavyweight division.
Other schools competing at the NCBA Invitational include Coast Guard, Lock Haven and Nevada. Action is slated to begin at 8 p.m., and will include 10 bouts.
