Rifle loses to nationally ranked Alaska-Fairbanks rifle team

The Academy's rifle team lost to the University of Alaska-Fairbank, the No. 10 ranked rifle team, today, Thursday, Dec. 4. The Falcons shot an aggregate 4601 points only 38 points shy of the Nanooks' 4638 points. The Falcons' top scorer in the match was Tom Chandler, who scored a 589/600 in air rifle and 579 in smallbore. Sarah Martin had the next highest air rifle score of 583. Mike Seery followed Chandler with a 576/600 in smallbore.
"It was a rough start following the long break, but the team is starting to come together," said head coach Launi Meili. "We've broken the 4600 mark in our last two matches, which proves the team is starting to get stronger."
Setting a personal best mark in the match was Chandler with a 589 and Martin's 583 in air rifle. Seery had personal best, 576, in smallbore.
