Falcons Wrap Up Opening Day at AF Invitational

USAFA, Colo. - With two events complete, the Air Force men's and women's diving teams wrapped up the opening day of competition Friday at the Air Force Diving Invitational, being held in the Cadet Natatorium. The women competed in the 1-meter dive, while the men competed in the 3-meter dive.
In the women's 1-meter dive, sophomore Chelsea Tompkins (Grand Junction, Colo.) led the way for the Falcons, finishing 10th with a mark of 216.75. Senior Danielle Dowds (Huntington Beach, Calif.) placed 12th with a score of 206.20, while junior Ashleigh Peck (Beaver Falls, Pa.) came in 19th overall. Winning the event was Natalie Hughes of Northern Arizona with a score of 283.65.
Meanwhile, in the men's 3-meter dive, Air Force had a pair of top-10 finishers. David Arlington (So., Eagle River, Alaska) was the Falcons' top performer, taking fourth place with a score of 295.65, followed by Kyle Van Valkenburg (So., Tucson, Ariz.) in seventh place with a mark of 286.70. Also competing for Air Force were Nathan Glandon (Sr., Abilene, Texas) finishing 11th, Randy Rogers (Jr., Fort Worth, Texas) taking 14th, and Nathaniel Gilbert (Fr., River Falls, Wis.) coming in 17th. Denver's Aaron Feight took the top spot with a mark of 335.85.
Action at the Air Force Diving Invitational resumes tomorrow at 9:00 a.m., with the men's 1-meter, women's 3-meter and men's and women's platform diving events.
