Wing Open Action Continues Thursday with 10 Bouts

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Action for the 50th Wing Open Tournament continues this Thursday (Feb. 14) with some more hard-hitting Valentine's Day boxing action. Boxers from the 156-, 165- and 175-pound weight classes will vie to advance to the next round of competition. Action begins at 4:30 p.m., in the Upper Boxing Room of the Cadet Gym.
Freshman Marcus Tenenbaum and senior Ryan Price open the night with the first of four contests in the 156-pound weight division. Rudy Bowen and John Doeseckle follow, while sophomore Charles Reynolds and senior Daryn Nelson, both members of Cadet Squadron 38, will face off in the third bout. Freshmen Joseph Silvio and Christopher De La Torre close out the weight class.
Six contenders will vie for a spot in the semifinals of the 165-pound weight class. Freshman Palmer Roux and junior Justin Lee will toe the line in the first bout, while freshman Will Remington and senior Clifford Moore follow. Junior Austin Almand and senior Mike Tolzien round out the weight class with the third and final bout.
The 175-pound weight class features three bouts between classmates. Senior Bruce Jamison and classmate Jacob Lambach face off in the first of three bouts. Juniors Andrew Catoire and Jon Andresen match up in the second bout, while fellow juniors Matt Jensen and Elon Brumfield close out the night.
The 10 winners will advance to the semifinal round of action on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
