USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Highlighted by senior Greg Stine's second-place ranking, two members of the Air Force men's gymnastics team are listed among the nation's top-10. Stine and junior Jacob Schonig are two of the top 10 gymnasts on the still rings. Only Penn State, ranked No. 2 in the country, boast as many athletes in that event as Air Force.
Beginning this week, the national standings are determined by a three-score average. This means that the top three performances are averaged to determine the current total.
Stine's three-score average on the still rings is 15.317 - a mark on .083 shy of the national leader. Schonig maintains an average of 15.167 on that event, which is ranked sixth. As a team, the Falcons are eighth with a 57.667 average. Stine is also listed among the top-10 in the all-around, currently ranked seventh with an average of 85.467.
The 15th-ranked Falcons travel to Oakland, Calif., this Saturday (Feb. 23) for the annual Pacific Coast Classic.
