Eli Bremer Finishes 22nd in Modern Pentathlon

BEIJING, China - Former Falcon Eli Bremer, a current member of the Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), finished 22nd in the modern pentathlon at the 2008 Olympics, held in Beijing, China. Andrey Moiseev of Russia captured the gold, while Lithuanians Edvinas Krungolcas and Andrejus Zadneprovskis finished with the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
The modern pentathlon consists of five disciplines--shooting, fencing, swimming, horseback riding and running--with athletes competing in all five disciplines in a single day. Bremer's best showings came in swimming and running, finishing seventh in both disciplines.
Bremer, a 2000 graduate of the Air Force Academy, earned letters in both fencing and swimming while at the Academy. He was the second former Air Force swimmer to earn an Olympic berth, joining three-time Olympian Bob Nieman, a 1970 Academy graduate who was a member of the U.S. modern pentathlon teams in 1976, 1980 and 1988 and the fencing team in 1980. Bremer was also the second former Air Force fencer to compete at the Olympics, as 2003 graduate Seth Kelsey participated in the men's epee in both 2004 and 2008.
