12 Falcons named to Phil Steele all-MWC team

USAFA, Colo. - Twelve Air Force football players were named to the Phil Steele Magazine all-Mountain West Conference team. Five were named to the first team, four to the second and three to the third team.
Senior defensive lineman Ben Garland, senior offensive linemen Nick Charles and Peter Lusk, senior punter Brandon Geyer and sophomore defensive back Anthony Wright, Jr., were named to the first team. Junior fullback Jared Tew, junior defensive back Reggie Rembert, junior linebacker Andre Morris, Jr., and junior defensive lineman Rick Ricketts were named to the second team. Senior defensive lineman Myles Morales, senior linebacker John Falgout and sophomore running back Asher Clark were named to the third team.
Garland was one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the conference all season. He leads the team and ranks eighth in the conference in tackles for loss with 10.5 and leads the Falcons in sacks with 4.5. Wright is tied for second in the conference in interceptions with four and is eighth in pass breakups with eight. He has also scored three touchdowns this season, two on interceptions and one on a punt return. Charles and Lusk helped key an experienced offense line that leads the conference and ranks fourth nationally in rushing with a 273.6 per-game average. The Falcons out-rushed 11 of 12 opponents this season and Charles and Lusk ranked first and second, respectively, on the team in knockdown blocks with over 100 each. Geyer was fifth in the MWC and 27th nationally in punting with a 43.0 average. Air Force's net punting leads the conference and is third in the nation with a 39.4 average. He earned MWC Player of the Week honors vs. Army, averaging 48.2 yards on six punts, including a career-long 71-yarder.
Rembert is fifth in the conference in interceptions with three and ranks among the league's top six in fumble recoveries with two and forced fumbles with two. He also scored the first touchdown of his career on a 47-yard fumble return vs. San Diego State. Rembert was named the conference's defensive player of the week vs. the Aztecs with a team-best seven tackles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. Morris is third on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and leads the MWC with three fumble recoveries (.20 per game). He was the MWC Player of the Week vs. New Mexico with seven tackles and two sacks. Ricketts is second on the team with 4.0 sacks, tied for third on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and is fifth with 51 tackles on the season. Tew is the fourth-leading rushing in the conference with 797 yards. He topped the 100-yard mark twice this season with 102 vs. Army and a season-best 105 yards vs. Wyoming. Soderberg leads the conference and is ranked fifth in the nation in field goals with 1.67 per game. He was also second in the conference in scoring with a 7.8 average.
Clark is second on the team and fifth in the league with 736 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 88.0 yards per game in his last four games, including a career-best 160 yards and three touchdowns vs. UNLV. Falgout leads the team and ranks seventh in the MWC in tackles with an 8.0 average. He started the last eight games and averaged 10.0 tackles per game in his starts. Morales is second on the team in tackles for loss with 8.5 and third with 3.5 sacks. He had a season-best nine tackles at Navy. --30--
