Air Force Falls Saturday At UNLV, 10-5

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Air Force dropped a 10-5 game at UNLV in Mountain West Conference baseball action Saturday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The loss dropped the Falcons to 6-11, 0-5 while the Rebels improved to 13-7, 2-3.
UNLV struck for four home runs in as many days, two by Jesse Wight. Wight finished the day 3-for-5 with five RBIs. Rebel starter Tanner Peters (3-1) picked up the win, allowing five runs in seven innings, striking out six.
Air Force had nine hits in the game. Freshman Blair Roberts led the way for the Falcons, going 3-for-5 with a triple. Daniel Walker also added two hits and Jon McMahon hit a triple as well.
The Falcons led 1-0 early in the game, but UNLV scored five runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth to pull away. Wight and Bryan Resnick homered for the Rebels in the fourth and then Wight and Jarred Frierson hit back-to-back homers in the fifth.
Air Force scored four runs in the sixth to make it an 8-5 ballgame, but the Rebels added two more runs in the seventh.
Falcon starter Jake Petro (1-3) took the loss, allowing eight runs in five innings, striking out five. Mike Kazakoff, Brad Pingel and Michael Ruvolo also pitched in relief for the Falcons.
The series finale is set for tomorrow, March 22, at 1 p.m. PST.
