Air Force Falters At Savannah State 4-1

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Air Force baseball dropped a 4-1 pitchers' duel at Savannah State Wednesday afternoon at Grayson Stadium. The loss drops the Falcons to 7-13 on the season, while the Tigers improved to 14-11.
Air Force committed three errors in the fifth inning which helped lead to four Savannah State runs. The Falcons plated its lone run of the game in the seventh.
Freshman Evan Abrecht and junior Michael Ruvolo combined to hold Savannah State to four hits on the day. Abrecht (0-2) pitched five innings in the start, allowing two hits, one earned run and struck out a career-high seven batters. Ruvolo did not allow a run in three innings and faced just nine batters total.
Savannah State starter Joseph Jackson and reliever Michael Allegretti (4-2) also held Air Force just four hits on the day. Jackson went 4.1 innings, allowing two hits and no runs. Allegretti pitched the remaining 4.2 innings to pick up the win.
Addison Gentry had two hits for the Falcons, with Nathan Carter and Adam Hill collecting hits as well. Carter scored the lone run for the Falcons and also stole two bases.
The Falcons return to action tomorrow, March 26, with a pair of games. The Falcons resume their rainout with Charleston Southern at 1:30 p.m. The game will begin in the top of the fifth with the Falcons leading 12-6. The game is a completion of the Feb. 28 rainout. Upon completion of the Charleston Southern game, Air Force will travel across town to take on the Citadel, beginning tentatively at 6 p.m.
