Stockdale wins Senior Mixed Foil Competition

In the final day of the Nick Toth Open, Air Force foil fencer, Nick Stockdale was the senior mixed foil champion and teammate Phil Choy tied for third place among the 36 competitors.
Stockdale advanced to the semifinals with a 15-4 victory over his opponent. Choy advanced to the semis after scoring a 15-10 win. In the semifinals, Stockdale had a 15-9 victory against Trevor Cassidy from the Denver Fencing Center. Choy's opponent, Adi Nott (Rochester fencing Club), won the semifinal bout 15-9, which put Choy into a tie for third place with Cassidy.
In the finals, it was Stockdale and Nott in a very strong bout, which saw Stockdale triumphant in the 15-9 win for the championship.
"It was a tough bout, and I respect my opponent she is a good fencer," said Stockdale. "I stayed focused; it was a tough bout and a good tournament."
Finishing in 23rd placed, was William Hock, while CJ Jung finished in 36th place. Jung also competed in the senior women's foil competition, she finished eighth.
