Rifle team drops two matches to TCU

The rifle team lost two matches to TCU this weekend at the Air Force Academy rifle range. On Saturday, Jan. 16, Air Force lost 4656-4599. The team scored 2321 points in the air rifle and 2278 in the smallbore three-position matches. On Sunday, Jan. 17, Air Force lost 4663-4582, scoring 2317 in air rifle and 2265 in the smallbore three-position contests.
Robert Vasquez was the Academy's top shooter in both air rifle matches. On Saturday, he scored 585/600 and finished the weekend with a 584/600 in air rifle. Two AFA marksmen vied for the Falcons' top scores in both smallbore contests. On Saturday, Nick Krieger finished the match with a 573/600 and Kyle Phillips scored 571 points on Sunday.
On Saturday, Pat Everson with AFA's next highest air rifle score had a season-high score with 582 points. Kreiger had a season-high score of 582 in air rifle. On Sunday, Kurt Hakola also scored a season high with 580 points in the air rifle and was the team's second highest scorer in the match. Mike Seery scored 572 points on Saturday and 569 points on Sunday.
TCU's top scorer was Sarah Beard with a 591 in air rifle and a 579 in smallbore on Saturday. On Sunday, she scored a 596 in air rifle and 584 in the smallbore.
The rifle team will travel to The Citadel for two matches on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31st.
