Falcons Drop South Dakota, 6-1

The Air Force women's tennis team posted its third consecutive victory Saturday with a 6-1 win over the University of South Dakota at the Academy.
For the third straight match, the Falcons swept the three doubles matches, then won the Nos. 2-5 singles matches in straight sets. Freshmen Hannah Dake and Melissa Cecil won at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, with Dake posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Melanie Rockne. Cecil, who went 6-0 this weekend in singles and doubles, downed Marina Kiefer, 6-1, 6-1.
Sophomore Tahlia Smoke continued the dominance with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rijalda Zejnic, while junior Sarah Cassman, who also won three singles matches this weekend, won at No. 5, 6-2, 6-1 over Isabel Nunez and junior Katrina Eromin beat Kelsi Foster, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6.
"I was extremely pleased with the fight of our entire team this weekend," said Air Force head coach Kim Gidley. "With freshmen comprising half of our lineup, we need this match experience early on. Each match the players made adjustments in the right direction, which is positive to see."
The Falcons return to action on Friday, Feb. 5 against Montana at the Academy beginning at 12 p.m.
