Led by senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), the Air Force golf team finished in 13th place at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, being held at the par-71, 6,765-yard Oak Hills CC. The Falcons concluded the tournament with a three-round score of 918 (+66).
Whitney, who entered the final round tied for 12th place at 4-over-par, shot an even-par 71 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for sixth place at 217 (+4).
Next in the individual standings for Air Force was freshman Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.), who finished tied for 57th place at 231, while Kyle Bailey (Jr., Austin, Texas) tied for 66th place overall with a score of 234.
Also competing for the Falcons were sophomores Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas) and Travis Deckert (Wichita, Kan.), who placed tied for 72nd place and in 80th place, respectively.
Texas Tech, ranked 19th in the latest coaches poll, captured the team title for the second-straight year, turning in a score of 875 (+23). Meanwhile, Southeastern Louisiana State's Philipp Westermann earned medalist honors by finishing with a 2-under-par 211.
The Falcons are back in action next week, Feb. 22-23, when they travel to Chandler, Ariz., for the Rebath Snowman Getaway, hosted by Washington State.
