Falcons in Seventh Place at WSU Snowman Getaway

CHANDLER, Ariz. -

After two rounds of action, the Air Force golf team sits in seventh place at the WSU Snowman Getaway, hosted by Washington State at the par-72, 7,218-yard Cattail Course at the Whirlwind Golf Club. Battling wind and rain, the Falcons fired a team score of 608 (+32) on Monday.

Senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) led Air Force on the opening day of competition, firing an even-par 144 after two rounds to sit in a tie for sixth place. Junior Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas), who shot a 2-under-par 70 in the opening round is currently tied for 25th place at 152, while Andrew Hoops (Fr., Highland, Calif.) is two strokes behind in a tie for 33rd place.

Also competing for the Falcons are sophomores Mark Boyer (Hershey, Pa.) and Caleb Leestma (Seabrook, Texas) at 160 and 161, respectively.

Idaho holds a two-stroke lead over host Washington State in the team standings with a score of 582 (+6) after two rounds. Meanwhile, there is a three-way tie atop the individual leaderboard, with Missouri's Jace Long, Washington State's Nick Ellis and UMKC's Brett Iliff all turning in scores of 141 (-3) on the opening day of action.

The Falcons conclude competition at the WSU Snowman Getaway tomorrow, with the final round scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. (PT).
