Ben Zeiler led Falcons in first round of Folds of Honor

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Sophomore Ben Zeiler led the Air Force golf team in the first round of the Folds of Honor Collegiate, Monday, Sept. 7, at the American Dunes Golf Course in Grand Haven, Mich.

Zeiler made 15 pars and one birdie for an opening round 72 (+1). Senior team captain Eli Huntington played the final 17 holes in one-under par and finished the day at 73 (+2). Freshman Daniel Chazen birdied his first hole in a collegiate tournament and shot 75 (+4). Senior Carson Baker shot 76 and senior Grant Samuelson shot 79.

As a team, the Falcons shot 296 (+12) to sit in 11^th place, three shots ahead of Army and four shots ahead of Navy. Georgia Tech, ranked 25^th in the nation, leads the field with a 272 (-12). Michigan State is second at 279 and Notre Dame is third at 280. Alabama, ranked 18^th in the nation, is fifth at 284 and Texas, ranked 15^th in the nation, is sixth at 285.

The second round of the fifth annual Folds of Honor Collegiate is Tuesday, Sept. 8, with the first Falcon on the course at 9:15 am ET.
