Falcons Fall To Wyoming, 58-49

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) -- Djibril Thiam scored 13 points, and Wyoming pulled away from Air Force late to end its eight-game losing streak with a 58-49 victory Tuesday night. Ryan Dermody and Desmar Jackson each had 12 points for the Cowboys (10-19, 3-12 Mountain West Conference).
"It was a much needed win. It was a good win for us," Wyoming coach Heath Schroyer said. "I felt our guys really showed a lot of growth tonight."
Tom Fow scored 17 points and Grant Parker added 14 for the Falcons (9-19, 1-14), who are guaranteed of a last-place finish in the conference. Air Force has lost eight straight and 14 of 15.
A 3-pointer by Dermody and two free throws by Daylen Harrison put the Cowboys up by six with 4:28 remaining.
The Falcons then scored five straight points before the Cowboys closed with a 10-2 run. Wyoming hit 8-of-10 foul shots during its run.
Dermody made four 3-pointers, all in the second half, and Harrison added a career-high 11 points, including three 3s. The Cowboys hit 9-of-23 3-pointers, their second-highest total all season.
Wyoming also allowed a season low in points.
"Give them credit, they played good half-court defense when they needed to," Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds said. "They are very capable of shooting the three as well as they did."
The Cowboys trailed for much of the first half, but closed the gap to 25-23 at halftime.
The Falcons host San Diego State on Saturday, March 6 in the final regular season game, beginning at 7 p.m.
