Air Force Set to Host USAG Championships

The 12th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team begins post-season action this weekend, when it hosts the 2010 USA Gymnastics Collegiate Gymnastics Championships on Friday-Saturday (March 26-27). The two-day meet, featuring four varsity teams and members from five club programs, will be held at the Academy's Cadet West Gym and take place at 5 p.m., each day.

TICKETING INFORMATION
Single-day tickets are $7 for adults and $5 children ages 3-15, while two-day tickets can be purchased for $10 (adults) and $7 (children). Tickets will be available at the door to West Gym the day of the meet and are cash-only. Warm-ups will begin at 2:40 p.m. There is no charge to watch warm-ups, but all guests in the gym when ticketing begins will be asked to exit the gym and reenter upon purchasing tickets.
LET'S MEET THE COMPETITION
The USAG Championships will feature four "varsity" teams - Air Force, Navy, Springfield, William & Mary - and five club programs - Arizona State, Portland Community College, SUNY-Brockport, Texas and Washington. Among the four varsity programs, Air Force has the highest national ranking, with a 12th-place average of 341.433. Springfield (334.233) and William & Mary (334.067) are ranked 14th and 15th, respectively, while Navy is ranked 17th with a 326.150 average.

Air Force has a 6-0 record against the teams it will be facing this weekend. The Falcons defeated both William & Mary and Springfield earlier this month, while holding a 3-0 record against Arizona State and a 1-0 mark against Washington.
RANK YOU VERY MUCH
Devin Menefee is ranked seventh in the national still rings standings, with a three-score average of 14.983. Nash Mills is currently ranked eighth in the all-around (85.567), tied for 16th on the parallel bars (14.517) and 18th on the still rings (14.733). In addition, Chase Nobles is tied for 18th in the pommel horse and Joel Uptmor is ranked 19th on the vault. As a team, the Falcons are ranked seventh on the still rings (58.117), ninth on the vault (62.217) and 10th on both the floor exercise (57.333) and pommel horse (54.697).
A HALL OF FAME COACH
Kip Simons will be inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame this summer, the sports governing body announced on March 23. A member of two world championship teams and the 1996 U.S. Olympic Men's Gymnastics Team, is one of six members of the 2010 induction class.
MILLS NAMED MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
Nash Mills was named the MPSF Gymnast of the Week for the first time this season on March 23, after his strong performance in the regular season finale at Arizona State. Mills collected a pair of event titles, as well as his fifth all-around victory (84.450). Mills won the still rings (career-best matching 14.800) and high bar (14.150), while finishing within the top-five on the vault and pommel horse.
FALCONS END REGULAR SEASON WITH A WIN
Backed by first-place finishes on all six events, the Falcons defeated Arizona State, 340.950-330.300 to close out the regular season. Nash Mills picked up titles on the still rings, high bar and all-around, while Travis Langham (floor exercise), Chase Nobles (pommel horse), Joel Uptmor (vault) and Matt Thorne (13.800) completed the Air Force sweep of event titles.
ALL IN A GOOD NIGHT'S WORK
Dan Klimkowski placed within the top three during each of his events against Arizona State. The junior tied for second on the floor exercise, while earning the placement outright on the still rings. He also finished third on the pommel horse and tied for that spot on the parallel bars.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
The Falcons will travel to Normal, Okla., for the 2010 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Saturday, April 3. Air Force will take on its conference opponents from No. 8 Cal, No. 10 Nebraska, No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 2 Stanford.
