Air Force Downed By UNLV, 11-7, Sunday

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Air Force baseball team dropped a 11-7 Mountain West Conference ballgame at UNLV Sunday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The loss dropped the Falcons to 11-33, 1-12 while the Rebels improved to 24-19, 8-7.
UNLV racked up 15 hits and scored multiple runs in four different innings. The Falcons scored six runs over the final four innings, but unfortunately that wasn't enough.
Air Force had 14 hits in the game, its most in the three-game series. Seniors Matt Alexander and Addison Gentry led the way offensively for the Falcons. Alexander went 3-for-5 with a run scored and Gentry went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Blair Roberts and Alex Bast added two hits.
The Falcons hit three triples on the day with Alexander, Ben Ausbun and Nathan Carter hitting three-baggers. Carter hit his conference-leading ninth triple of the year.
UNLV was led offensively by Brandon Bayardi, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and a homer. Drew Beuerlein also homered for the Rebels.
Evan Abrecht (1-5) went 4.1 innings in the start for the Falcons. Abrecht gave up four runs, three earned, while striking out two in the loss. Sean Carley, Andrew Loyd and Jack Hourin pitched in relief.
Matt Hutchison (5-3) went six innings in the start for UNLV. Hutchison allowed three runs while striking out five in the win.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, May 4, at Northern Colorado. The game was originally slated for May 11, but was moved up one week due to the Academy finals schedule. First pitch is 3 p.m.
