Air Force Downed By San Diego State, 13-4

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Air Force baseball team dropped a 13-4 Mountain West Conference ballgame at San Diego State Friday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The loss dropped the Falcons to 11-35, 1-13 while the Aztecs improved to 23-23, 8-8.
San Diego State scored four runs in three different innings to pull away from the Falcons. Aztec starting pitcher Addison Reed (8-1) struck out nine in eight innings pitched for the win.
The Falcons did manage 13 hits in the game, including 11 off Reed, who had entered the game with 35 hits allowed in his eight previous starts combined. Air Force's two-through-five hitters combined to go 10-for-20, scoring all four runs. K.J. Randhawa and Garrett Custons both went 3-for-5 and Addison Gentry and Matt Alexander both went 2-for-5. Randhwa scored two runs and Gentry added a triple and two RBIs.
San Diego State had 16 hits on the night. Cory Vaughn went 3-for-4 three RBIs to lead SDSU. Josh Chasse also added three hits and Ryan O'Sullivan hit a home run.
Kincaid Koehler (2-8) took the loss in the start for the Falcons, pitching 2.2 innings. Todd Del Toro followed with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief. Michael Ceci tossed the final three innings for AFA.
Air Force briefly led 1-0 after plating a run in the first on Gentry's RBI-triple. The Aztecs then scored four runs in both the second and third innings to put the game out of reach. The Falcons made it 8-3 with two runs in the sixth, but SDSU scored a run in the seventh and four in the eighth. The Falcons added one more run in the ninth.
Air Force and San Diego State play game two of the three-game series tomorrow, May 8. First pitch is 1 p.m. PST.
