Air Force Wraps Up Day Two at MWC Championship

With just one round remaining, the Air Force golf team sits in sixth place at the 2010 Mountain West Conference Championship, being held at the par-71, 7,144-yard Catalina Course at OMNI Tucson National. The Falcons, who fired a 292 on Friday, are currently four strokes ahead of seventh-place New Mexico at 596.
Sophomore Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas), who fired a 69 on Friday, leads Air Force after two rounds, tying for 17th place at 145 (+3). Senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) turned in an even-par 71 in the second round and is currently tied for 23rd place at 147 (+5), while freshman Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.) sits two strokes behind in a tie for 26th place.
Rounding out the Air Force lineup are Caleb Leestma (So., Seabrook, Texas) and Kyle Bailey (Jr., Austin, Texas), who are tied for 39th place and in 44th place, respectively.
Colorado State remains in first place in the team standings with a two-round score of 557 (-11). Meanwhile, the Rams' Ryan Peterson, who fired a 6-under-par 69 on Friday, sits atop the individual leaderboard at 135 (-7).
The 2010 Mountain West Conference Championship will conclude tomorrow with tee times beginning at 7:00 a.m. (PT).
