The Air Force Academy rifle team will compete against the Bulldogs at The Citadel Marksmanship Center this weekend in an open NCAA match, Jan. 29-30. The Falcons are coming off a 4614-4566 win against the University of Nebraska. The Falcons have a 5-4 record going into the two-day match in air rifle and smallbore against the Bulldogs, who are undefeated and are at the top of their conference.
In the Nebraska match, senior Tom Chandler and junior Mike Seery were the Falcons' top performers. Seery shot a season high 583 in the smallbore, while Chandler remains the team's top shooter for the season in both weapons.
"Mike Seery has really made some headway in training these last few weeks and it's showing up on the line when it counts," said Air Force Academy head coach Launi Meili. "Tom Chandler was our high air gun shooter with a 586. We still need to pick up the scores in order to make it to nationals, but some individuals are starting to really improve."
