Falcon Football Sweeps MW Player of the Week Honors

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Tim Jefferson, Brady Amack and Alex Means of Air Force football are the Mountain West Players of the Week for games through Oct. 1. Jefferson is receiving the offensive player of the week award for the third time, while Amack (defensive player of the week) and Means (special teams player of the week) are being presented with the honor for the first time in their careers. The three were honored for standout performances in Air Force's thrilling 35-34 overtime victory at Navy.
Jefferson completed 9-of-10 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown, and rushed 18 times for 66 yards and two scores in the Falcons' 35-34 overtime win at Navy on Saturday. Jefferson, who scored the game-winning touchdown on a 1-yard run, led Air Force to its second-straight win over Navy and the first in Annapolis since 1997. The senior quarterback also connected with sophomore wide receiver Ty MacArthur on a 52-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 2-yard run to give the Falcons a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Amack amassed a career-high 23 tackles (11 solo), a sack and two tackles for loss in the Falcons' 35-34 overtime victory at Navy. The senior middle linebacker's tackle total ranks as the sixth-highest in school history and tied for the most in Mountain West annals. His 23 tackles were also the most by an Air Force player since Brian Hill collected 23 in a game against Colorado State in 1988. Amack, whose previous high for tackles in a game was 15, had 13 stops in the first half. He had three tackles on third-down plays that resulted in Navy being forced to punt. Amack's 23 tackles are tied for most in a FBS game this season.
Alex Means blocked Navy's extra-point try in overtime. The Falcons scored on their overtime possession and kicked the extra point to secure the one-point win. The junior outside linebacker, who has blocked two kicks this season, also tied a career-high with 12 tackles and intercepted a pass, helping lead Air Force's to its first victory in Annapolis since 1997.
