Thirteen Falcon football players named academic all-Mountain West

USAFA, Colo. - Thirteen Air Force football players were named to the Mountain West Conference all-academic team today as announced by the league office. The 13 academic all-conference selections tie as the second most in school history. The 1999 team set the school record with 18 players named to the academic all-conference team. The 2000, 2006 and 2009 teams also had 13 selections.
Seniors Keil Bartholomew (3.16 systems engineering management), Zach Bell (3.09 history - military), Kevin Fogler (3.61 foreign language), Kyle Halderman (3.07 systems engineering management), Tyler Schonsheck (3.16 aeronautical engineering) and Nathan Walker (3.04 systems engineering management ) were joined on the team by juniors Jeffrey Benson (3.48 systems engineering management), Josh Hall (3.23 legal studies), Daniel Pickett (3.02 systems engineering management ) and A.J. Wallerstein (3.39 physics ) and sophomores Austin Briehl (3.18 behavioral sciences), Jordan Eason (3.01 foreign area studies) and Wale Lawal (3.32 materials chemistry).
A total of 386 student-athletes were named to the fall 2010 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
Air Force had 33 student-athletes garner academic all-conference honors during the fall.
