Falcons Shut Out by #52 UNLV, 7-0

The Air Force women's tennis team lost its second consecutive Mountain West Conference match Sunday, falling 7-0 to 52nd -ranked UNLV in Las Vegas. The Rebels improved to 14-4 overall and 3-0 in the MWC while the Falcons fell to 14-6 overall and 0-2 in league play.
UNLV swept the three doubles matches to capture the doubles point. The closest match was at the No. 1 position where the Falcon duo of junior Tahlia Smoke and sophomore Melissa Cecil were edged by Nives Pavlovic and Aleksandra Josifoska, 8-7, losing the tiebreaker 7-5.
The Rebels then swept all six singles matches in straight sets, led by nationally-ranked Lucia Batta, who defeated senior Christen Monreal, 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot.
The Falcons are back in action on Thursday, April 7 against BYU, beginning at 12 p.m., in Provo, Utah.
