Air Force Baseball Falls at New Mexico Sunday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Air Force baseball dropped a 16-4 ballgame at New Mexico Sunday afternoon at Lobo Field. The loss dropped the Falcons to 17-31, 2-15 and improved the Lobos to 16-32, 10-11.
New Mexico had 19 hits and scored multiple runs in five innings.
The Falcons had nine hits in the game. Alex Bast and Matt Thorne had two hits each to lead the Falcons. Bast doubled and scored two runs. Matthew Roberts also had two RBIs. Brad Pingel and Vince Capra also drove in runs for AFA.
The Lobos were led offensively by D.J. Peterson, who hit three doubles and drove in five runs. Starting pitcher Richard Olson (2-5) pitched seven innings in the win, allowing two runs while striking out three.
Air Force starting pitcher Evan Abrecht (5-7) took the loss, striking out two in 3.2 innings pitched. Sophomore Alex Baker, Matt Zettler, Jack Hourin and Stephen Colangelo followed up in relief duties.
Air Force returns to action Friday, May 13, hosting UNLV.
