Sophomore forward Brian Klazura has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's soccer player of the week, announced today by the league office.
Klazura scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 80th minute, to lead Air Force to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Duquesne Sunday and capture the Pitt/Nike Invitational title. The Falcons captured the tournament title with a perfect 2-0 record and improved to 3-1 this season, their best start since 2004. Air Force defeated Pitt, 2-1, in the opener on Friday.
Klazura, who was named to the all-tournament team, opened the scoring against the Dukes in the seventh minute, then notched the game-winner just 46 seconds after teammate Garrett Getschow had tied the game at 2-all.
Klazura, who was also named AFA's co-athlete of the week, leads the Falcons in scoring with seven points on three goals and one assist.
