NEW ORLEANS, La. - Following two strong weeks of competition, the Air Force men's cross country team is receiving votes in the Division I national coaches' poll, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today (Sept. 20). The Falcons are currently ranked 32nd and just three points out of entering the top-30 rankings.
It is the Falcons' first time in the national rankings since Nov. 1, 2005, when Air Force also received votes in the coaches' poll.
Oklahoma State continues to lead the national poll, while Wisconsin, Stanford, Oklahoma and Iona round out the top five. Only one other Mountain West squad is mentioned in the men's national poll, as New Mexico is ranked 20th.
Air Force also moved up one spot to fourth in the regional rankings, which were released yesterday.
