Falcons Play Three in Texas This Weekend

AIR FORCE HEAD COACH DAN OOSTERHOUSAir Force head coach Dan Oosterhous is in his third season as the men's tennis coach after being named the program's 12th head coach on October 1, 2009. Oosterhous, a 1993 graduate of the Academy, replaced legendary head coach Rich Gugat, who retired after 36 years at the helm of the men's tennis program.Oosterhous led the Falcons to a 10-14 record last season and has a 29-37 career mark. Last season, he coached the Falcons to a 6-1 victory over service-academy rival Army and Lance Wilhelm and Andy Jackson to a No. 7 doubles ranking in the Mountain Region. Wilhelm is currently ranked 17th in the Mountain Region in singles. LAST TIME OUTThe Falcons split a pair of matches last weekend in Boise, Idaho. Air Force dropped a 7-0 decision to Mountain West newcomer Boise State, then defeated Weber State 5-2.Boise State swept all nine matches, including all six singles matches in straight sets. In doubles action, AFA's No. 2 team of sophomores Alex Grubbs and Andy Jackson held a match point before falling to Andy Bettles and Filipp Pogostkin, 9-8(3).The Falcons jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against Weber State with wins at the top two doubles spots, including an impressive 8-3 victory at the No. 1 position by junior Lance Wilhelm and freshman Grant Taylor over Oliver Good and Simon Unger, the Mountain Region's fourth-ranked doubles team. AFA then won four of the six singles matches, led by Alex Grubbs, who dominated the No. 2 match over Good, 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Alex Lineberry rallied to win the No. 3 match 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 over Dave Hintze, while Taylor (No. 5) and sophomore Steven Young (No. 6) also won for the Falcons.
