Falcons Complete Play at Region Championships

The Air Force women's tennis team completed play at the ITA Mountain Region Championships Saturday in Las Vegas, Nev., by winning three of four matches in the consolation bracket.

In singles play, junior Tiffany Tran rallied to defeat Alexis Turley of Utah State, 4-6, 6-3, (10-8), while freshman Chloe Forlini dropped a tough 3-6, 6-4, (16-14) decision to Bety Flores of Idaho.

In doubles, Forlini paired with her twin sister Lily to beat Wena Tsan and Laura Middel of Montana State, 8-1, while senior Anastasia Hueffner and freshman Tracy Landrum downed Demi Daniels and Mackenna Maddox of BYU, 8-4.

"This was a great tournament for us," said Air Force head coach Kim Gidley. "This was our best overall performance in the regional tournament since we turned Division l in 1996. I was very pleased with our attitude, effort and fight with every match."
