Freshman Blake Elder scored his first career goal and fellow freshman Jake Schenk made six saves as the Air Force men's soccer team battled WAC-leader Seattle University to a 1-1 tie Friday night at Championship Field in Seattle, Wash.
Elder evened the game with an unassisted goal in the 75th minute after placing a shot past Seattle goalie Jake Feener from the right side after the ball deflected off a Redhawk defender in front of the net.
After Miguel Gonzalez hit the crossbar in the 11th minute, Brady Ballew gave Seattle (5-8-3, 4-0-2 WAC) a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute after taking a crossing pass from Chase Hanson and firing a shot past Schenk.
Neither team was able to find the net the rest of regulation time or the two overtime periods. The Redhawks outshot Air Force, 25-15, and Gonzalez led all players with nine shots. Senior Brian Klazura attempted a team-high five shots for Air Force (1-9-3, 1-1-3).
The Falcons will take on San Jose State on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. (PT) in San Jose, Calif.
