Falcons Finish Second at Cougar Classic

The Air Force men's golf team finished in second place at the PING Cougar Classic, hosted by Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah. The Falcons shot a six-under par 282 in the final round Saturday for a three-round total of 15-under par 849 on the par-72, 7,142-yard Riverside Golf Club. Host BYU won the tournament at 32-under par.
Junior Kyle Westmoreland tied for second individually with a 13-under par total of 203 after a four-under par 68 in the final round. He tied with Joe Parkinson of BYU, one shot behind tournament winner Zachary Blair of BYU.
Senior Andrew Hoops shot a 68 in the final round Saturday and finished in a tie for fifth place with a three-round total of five-under par 211. Sophomore Blake Edwards tied for 16th place at one-under par 217, while junior Phillip Colwell tied for 17th with a two-over par total of 218. Fellow junior Jack Howard had to withdraw during the first round due to a stomach virus.
The Falcons will close out the 2013 spring season next weekend at the Mountain West Championships in Tucson, Az., beginning Friday, May 3.
