Falcons Tied for Fifth at Mtn. West Championships

After one day of action, the Air Force golf team is tied for fifth place at the 2013 Mountain West Championships, being held at the par-71, 7,144-yard Catalina Course at OMNI Tucson National. The Falcons are tied with Wyoming after posting a team score of 299 (+15) on Friday.
Pacing Air Force after the first round is junior Philip Colwell, who sits in a tie for fourth place after shooting an even-par 71 on Friday. Fellow juniors Kyle Westmoreland (73) and Jack Howard (76) follow and are tied for 11th and 27th, respectively. Senior Andrew Hoops is tied for 37th with a first-round 79, while sophomore Blake Edwards rounds out the team in 44th place after an opening-round 86.
New Mexico leads in the team standings with a score of 282 (-2) after one round and the Lobos' Victor Perez leads the individual race with a five-under par 66 on Friday.
The second round of the Mountain West Championships will begin Saturday morning at 7 a.m. (PT), with the final round on Sunday.
