The Air Force women's tennis team won its third straight match of the spring season and improved to 7-0 this season with a 6-1 victory over UC Riverside Friday afternoon in Riverside, Calif.
The Falcons swept the three doubles matches and won five of the six singles contests on Friday. AFA's top doubles team of juniors Natasha Rizvi and Marcelli Magday upped their record to 17-2 with a 6-4 victory over Kat Salterelli and Jasmine Almaguer at the No. 1 spot. Junior Tiffany Tran and sophomore Mary Meyers won the No. 2 match over Courtney Pattugalan and Tiffany Jue by the same score while freshmen twins Chloe and Lily Forlini won the No. 3 match, 6-1, over Kate Bergeson and Thanh Doan.
In singles action, Tran lost the No. 1 match 6-2, 6-4 to Almaguer, but the Falcons won the other five matches, four of them in straight sets. Rizvi handled Salterelli 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 and Meyers rallied to beat Pattugalan 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 at No. 3. Magday won at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3 over Bergeson and Lily Forlini No. 5) and fellow freshman Tracy Landram (No. 6) each won 6-0, 6-0.
Air Force plays at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Jan. 25 beginning at 11 a.m.
