Rifle downs Nevada, 4681-4646

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - Air Force, #5 in the College Rifle Coaches Association poll, was in Reno this weekend to compete against #14 Nevada on Oct. 18. Air Force won the match, 4681-4646, setting a new school record.
Saturday's match kicked off with the smallbore rifle. Meredith Carpentier scored with a career high 589, while Tyler Rico finished with a 587, also a career high. Newcomer Spencer Brandon scored a career 575, while Ryan Jacobs added 578 points. In NCAA scoring, the squad finished with a 2329.
In air rifle, Kevyn Stinett had a career high 593 and Rico scored a 591, one point shy of his career-high score. Carpentier finished with a 589, while Jacobs scored a 579. The squad finished with an aggregate score of 2352.
Air Force now (2-0) and Nevada (3-3) last met on Feb. 1, 2014 at USAFA; the Falcons won that match 4651-4562. Today's smallbore score is the Falcons second-highest score in the rifle since scoring a 2336 against Alaska, Nov. 18, 2011.
