
Yon leads Air Force past Jacksonville State, 66-65

Max Yon scored 16 points to lead four players in double figures as Air Force defeated Jacksonville State, 66-65, in overtime Monday night in a non-conference game in Clune Arena.
Yon took over in overtime, scoring seven of Air Force's nine points and assisting on the other field goal. In addition, he made the defensive play of the game, blocking a layup attempt by D.J. Felder with three seconds left and Air Force up one point. Kamryn Williams tipped the rebound to Yon, who ran out the final seconds to make up the final margin.
The Falcons took a 54-51 lead with 1:56 left in regulation on a three-pointer by Zach Kocur. Following a pair of free throws by Darion Rackley of JSU and two by Marek Olesinski of Air Force, Felder hit a jumper with 46 seconds left to cut it to 56-55. Trevor Lyons hit one of two free throws after getting Air Force's only offensive rebound of the game with 18 seconds left. Felder sent the game into overtime with a put back with two seconds left.
Air Force hit 48.9 percent from the field, including a 10-of-23 clip from three-point range. The Falcons hit four-of-five field goals in overtime. Olesinski had 14 points, while Williams added 12 points and a team-best six rebounds and Kocur added 10. Jacksonville State was led by Rackley, who scored 23 points. Felder added 17 points and seven rebounds. JSU hit 37.9 percent from the field, but just three-of-seven in overtime. The Gamecocks out-rebounded Air Force, 36-31, and committed just seven turnovers.
Air Force closes out the non-conference season with a 7-4 record, including a 6-1 mark at home. Jacksonville State falls to 7-6 overall.
