Air Force women's tennis sweeps Omaha, Creighton to open spring season

Air Force swept a pair of matches today in Omaha, Neb., at the Miracle Hill Golf and Tennis Center as the Falcons opened the spring season. Air Force defeated host Omaha, 7-0, and Creighton, 4-3, to open 2-0 on the season.
Sophomores Chloe and Lily Forlini and Tracy Landram all swept their singles matches while Lily Forlini and Hatcliff were both 2-0 in doubles play.
The Falcons won all six singles matches in straight sets vs. Omaha to start the day. The Folini sisters won 6-4 over Molly Matricardi and Kenzie Hill at No. 2 doubles while Landram and Carley Hatcliff were 6-4 winners in No. 3 doubles over Rebecca Stafford and Allison Johnson to secure the doubles point for the Falcons.
The Falcons took the doubles point to open the Creighton match. Landram and Sierra Stapper defeated Jennie Hartjes and Katherine Nelson, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles while Hatcliff and Chloe Forlini defeated Amanda Noonan and Darby Rosette, 6-3, at No. doubles.
Chloe Forlini rallied after losing the first set to defeat Nelson at No. 2 singles, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 while Landram defeated Rosette in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 3 singles. Lily Forlini rolled over Liz Vermillion, 6-1, 6-1 at No. four singles.
Chloe Forlini improves to a team-best 14-4 on the season, including the fall, in singles. Landram improves to 10-5 overall with the two wins. Hatcliff and Chloe Forlini improve to a team best 10-4 on the season in doubles action.
Air Force continues play on this four-match road trip by taking on Nebraska Saturday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. and Army on Sunday at 11 a.m. in Lincoln, Neb.
