Air Force With 1-0 Setback To Wyoming

An unfortunate bounce of the ball ultimately led to Wyoming's goal in the 54th minute. The Falcons looked to clear a loose ball, but the clearance was deflected by another Falcon player straight to Wyoming's Shaina Ashouri, who was charging into the penalty box area. Ashouri got to the ball on the run and lofted the ball over Falcon goalkeeper Alex Kahalley for the score.
The Falcons could not find the back of the net despite a barrage of 18 shot attempts. The Falcons almost got the equalizer as time expired, but sophomore Angela Karamanos' attempt from 30 yards out was stopped by Wyoming goalkeeper Cassidy Entsminger.
"It was tremendous effort by both teams tonight," Air Force head coach Larry Friend said. "We created several really good chances and didn't tuck those away. We had an unfortunate bounce off a clearance and Wyoming took advantage of that. That's soccer sometimes. We'll get back to work tomorrow to prepare for Colorado State on Sunday."
The Falcons held advantages in shots (18-12) and corner kicks (4-2). Senior Ally Swift led the Falcons with six shot attempts. Karamanos and Ashley Greco had two shots on goal each for AFA. Kahalley had seven saves in goal.
Air Force looks to get back on track Sunday, Oct. 4, hosting Colorado State.
