NEW ORLEANS – The Air Force men's cross country team moved up three places to No. 26 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Division I National Coaches Poll, which was released this morning. It is the highest regular-season ranking for the program since Air Force registered the same placement in Week 3 of the 2005 season.
The Falcons are coming off of a strong weekend at the Pre-National Invitational in Louisville on Oct. 17, where they finished eighth out of 42 teams, including 13 that were mentioned in the last national rankings. The men, who finished ahead of three teams ranked higher than their previous #29 ranking and four other squads earning a mention in national poll, were paced by top-12 finisher Patrick Corona (12th, 23:33.1) and top-25 finisher Kyle Eller (22nd, 23:41.0).
Air Force returns to action next Friday (Oct. 30), when it travels to Reno, Nev., for the 2015 Mountain West Cross Country Championships. The meet, which is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. (PT), will be held at the Montreux Golf and Country Club.
