Air Force Men Take Third at Roadrunner Invite

DENVER - Backed by a pair of top-20 finishes, the younger members of the Air Force men's cross country team picked up a third-place finish at the Roadrunner Invitational this morning (Sept. 19) in Denver. Sophomore Christopher Creedon and freshman Ryder Keeton paced the squad with top-20 finishes in the full 125-runner 8K at Washington Park.
Creedon completed the course in 25:56.76 to finish 18th in the overall field, while Keeton placed 20th behind a time of 26:03.65. Sophomore Will Bradbury and junior Alex Pinckney followed Keeton over the finish line, placing 21st (26:08.16) and 22nd (26:08.85), respectively, while freshman Nick Sanders rounded out the scoring lineup with a 27th-place time of 26:21.84.
Six additional members of the program's developmental lineup also competed today – all finishing within the top 50. Freshman Owen Hintz finished 33rd with an 8K debut of 26:28.29, while classmates Alex Roberts and Gabriel Marshall placed 38th and 39th, respectively, behind matching 26:42.19 finishes. Junior Cody Kelley clocked in at 26:45.79 to finish 43rd, while senior Joseph White placed 45th (26:52.56) and freshman Walker Elrod rounded out the squad with a 47th-place time of 26:58.77.
Air Force also sent a small women's squad to Washington Park this morning, as junior Carrigan Eberly, sophomore Macie Roberts and three newcomers raced to a seventh-place team finish. Freshman Mallory Old led the team with a 29th-place time 23:46.03, while Eberly was right on her heels (30th, 23:46.17) to also finish within the top third of the full 91-runner field. Freshmen Emma Mathis (51st, 24:23.79) and Shayla Miller (52nd, 24:26.48) also recorded back-to-back finishes, while Roberts rounded out the field with a 59th-place time of 25:43.76.
The Falcons return to action on Friday, Oct. 9, when they travel to Madison, Wis., for the annual Nuttycombe Invitational at Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
