Falcons Set to Host Boise State, Travel to Utah State

The Air Force volleyball team begins its final full week of the season this Wednesday (Nov. 18), when it hosts Boise State at the Academy's Cadet East Gym. The Falcons, who have not faced either of this week's opponents in 2015, will also travel to Logan, Utah, to face Utah State on Saturday, Nov. 21, for their final road match.

SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
Boise State became the second conference team to reach 20 wins this year (20-7) and hold a 12-3 record in the Mountain West. The Broncos, who swept San Diego State and Nevada last week, have won 12 of their last 13 contests, including six straight. Boise State leads the league in hitting (.282), kills (14.91) and assists (13.96), while Sierra Nobley (kills, 4.62; points, 5.15) and Sarah Baugh (assists, 12.16) are ranked first in the individual standings.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Utah State, which will travel to New Mexico on Wednesday, is currently 6-23 on the year and 2-13 in Mountain West action. The Aggies split a pair of matches last week, as they defeated Nevada 3-1 and dropped a close 2-3 contest to San Diego State that included a 19-21 loss in the fifth set. Four players are listed among the conference's top 10, with Hannah Gleason (digs, 4.38) and Erica Moscoso (assists, 8.40) leading the squad with #5 rankings.
SERIES HISTORY
The will be the Falcons' first meeting of the season with both schools. Boise State leads the all-time series with Air Force by an 8-2 margin, while Utah State is 4-0 in the series' short history. The Falcons won their previous two home contests against the Broncos and are 2-4 lifetime at the Academy, while 0-2 in Logan and 0-1 at the Aggies' current venue.
AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Akokwe Clement is ranked second in the Mountain West in both kills (3.82) and points (4.41), while Rachael Bradley Powers holds the same placement in service aces (0.39). As a team, the Falcons are ranked third in aces (1.35), fourth in assists (11.65) and fifth in blocks (2.19).
RECORD BOOK WATCH
The Air Force seniors are dotted throughout the Academy's Division I career record book. Akokwe Clement is ranked second (1455) and Maggie Sherrill is ranked fifth (996) in DI career kills, while Rebecca Bates and Rachael Bradley Powers are both listed on a pair of DI career lists. Bates is currently ranked second in digs (1294) and sixth in service aces (85), while Bradley Powers is listed fifth in both aces (88) and digs (876).
TRIO DOMINATING ACADEMY BLOCKING MARKS
Three Falcons have made major improvements to the Academy's Division I blocking categories this season. Taylor Parker and Raquel Rosas, who became just the fifth and sixth players in DI history to surpass 200 assisted blocks in a career, are ranked second (250) and fifth (205), respectively, in that category, while Parker is also ranked third in total blocks (284) and eighth in solo stops (34) and Rosas is listed sixth in total blocks (233) and 10th in solos (28). Akokwe Clement, who debuted on all three lists this year, is ranked seventh in assisted blocks (175), eighth in total blocks (205) and ninth in solo blocks (30).
ANOTHER MATCH, ANOTHER RECORD
One match after taking over the Academy's Division I points' record, Akokwe Clement etched her name at the top of the program's attempts list. Clement became the first DI player – and just the third all time – to surpass the 4000-assist mark in a career.
