ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) Jhurell Pressley scored on first-quarter runs of 75 and 57 yards, and New Mexico had four other offensive plays of more than 40 yards to beat Air Force 47-35.
Pressley finished with a career-best 170 yards on 17 carries while adding another late touchdown. Richard McQuarley also scored twice for New Mexico (7-5, 5-3 Mountain West), including a 44-yard run near the end of the first half.
That was enough to offset a huge effort from Falcons running back Timothy McVey, who had five touchdowns with 105 yards rushing and 157 receiving.
The New Mexico defense held the rest of the Falcons (8-4, 6-2) in check, limiting them 222 rushing yards, about 110 below their average.
Air Force pulled within 34-28 early in the fourth quarter on McVey's 26-yard touchdown catch. But New Mexico responded on Lamar Jordan's 2-yard run with 4:01 remaining.
