Air Force Coaches' Rifle Athlete of the Week

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - This week's pick for the Air Force Coaches' Rifle Athlete of the Week is freshman Spencer Cap, CS 20. Cap earned the recognition after firing a personal-best score of 1173 at the Air Force-TCU match on Oct. 31, 2015 at the Academy. In the match, Cap fired two perfect 100s, once in smallbore prone 2 and the other in air rifle. Cap finished the match with a smallbore 580 and an air rifle 593.
Cap credits his accomplishment to practice and intensive coaching.
"Achieving this personal best was the culmination of weeks of goal-oriented practices and intensive coaching," said Cap. "Both the team's and the coaches' dedication to excellence and the pursuit of perfection have helped me to transcend to a higher level of shooting than I thought previously possible for myself."
Cap's previous achievements include an 1160 in the rifle match against Alaska in Fairbanks on Oct. 18, when he scored a smallbore 571 and an air rifle 589.
