No. 18 Falcons beat No. 17 Santa Clara, 11-9

The Air Force water polo, ranked 18th in the nation, closed out the regular-season conference schedule with an 11-9 win over No. 17 Santa Clara, Sunday, Nov. 8, in Santa Clara, Calif. Air Force improved to 8-16 overall and 2-4 in the Western Water Polo Association.
After each team scored three goals in the first period, the Falcons out-scored Santa Clara 4-3 in the second quarter for a 7-6 lead at the half. Santa Clara took a 9-8 lead after three quarters, but the Falcons won the fourth quarter and won the game. Air Force scored three fourth-quarter goals and held the Broncos scoreless for the 11-9 win.
Senior team captain Oliver Carter led the Falcons with three goals. Justin Harrison, Edward Smet and Zach Kamai each scored two goals. Eric Curia led the Falcons with three assists.
The Falcons close out the regular season with a pair of non-conference games on the road against Chapman (Calif.) on Nov. 13 and at Concordia (Calif.) on Nov. 14. Air Force hosts the WWPA Tournament, Nov. 20-22, at the Academy's Cadet Natatorium.
