
Air Force downs FAMU in women's tennis

Air Force defeated Florida A&M, 7-0, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference women's tennis match in Tallahassee, Fla. The victory improves the Falcons to 9-3 overall this season and 1-1 on the team's Florida road swing.
The Falcons opened the match by winning two of three matches to take the doubles point. Tracy Landram and Natasha Rizvi were 6-4 winners at No. 1 while Chloe Forlini and Carley Hatcliff won 6-1 at No. 3. Air Force swept the singles matches. Chloe Forlini picked up the first win at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Shantel Blackwood. Twin sister Lili followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Amie Robinson at No. 5. Mary Meyers defeated Symone Taunsend, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2 singles and Rizvi clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Alexis Dean. Jocelle Rudico defeated Elysia Daiz, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles and Landram defeated Dominique Henry, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-3 at No. 4 to round out the victory for Air Force.
"We played a very tough FAMU team today. It was like playing a mirror team of ourselves," Air Force head coach Kim Gidley said. "They had a lot of energy, very athletic and changed the spin and pace a lot. We showed physical fortitude today and that is why we did not lose a point."
