Falcons Conclude First Round of Loyola Invitational

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Air Force golf team wrapped up the first day of action at the Loyola Golf Invitational, sponsored by The Neville Kovacs Group, this afternoon (Feb. 22) in Goodyear, Arizona. Finishing the day with a 14-over score of 302, the Falcons are tied for 10th after the first round of play.
Tied for fifth with a two-under par score of 70, sophomore Sunwoo Choi is the Falcons' leader after 18 holes. Junior Michael Fan and freshman J.D. Kiesewetter are tied for 61st, with matching five-over scores of 77, while senior Blake Edwards is tied for 72nd with a six-over 78. Sophomore Brenden Bone rounded out the Air Force squad with an eight-over score of 80 (84th, tie).
Freshman Dane Hankamer and sophomore Troy Berglund, competing as individuals, are tied for 49th (four-over, 76) and 84th (eight-over, 80), respectively.
Utah Valley leads the team standings with an eight-under par round of 280, while the Wolverines' J.T. Timmons and Missouri's Luigi Botta shared the individual lead with matching five-under scores of 67.
Air Force returns to the Palms Course of the Palm Valley Golf Club tomorrow (Feb. 23) for the second round of 18 at the Loyola Golf Invitational. Action is slated to begin at 8:00 a.m.
